ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL
Norwood Community Preschool - the preschool by the park - is a not-for-profit organisation that has been operating in the local community since 1959.
Norwood is a traditional preschool that is financially supported by fees from attending families, NSW Government grants and parent fundraising.
Find out more about why the NSW Government is committed to ensuring that all children in New South Wales can participate in 600 hours of quality preschool education in the year before school, and how this affects your fees.

The learning environment is surrounded by bush and parkland and we are fortunate to have plenty of shade and a large outdoor play area.
THE FINER DETAILS
Norwood Community Preschool (NCP) is licensed to enrol 25 children per day aged from 3 to under 6 years old.
Fees & hours
Our hours are 8.15am to 3.45pm, Monday to Friday and our terms operate in line with NSW school terms. The preschool is not open on school holidays or public holidays. Fees are charged for the 41 weeks of term only.
Fees for 4-5 year olds attending for 2 days in 2018 are $44/day –
please contact Jan for further information 02 9477 2258.
We are a ‘Registered Care Provider’ for Child Care Benefit (CCB) and a receipt will be provided to those eligible. As we are not a Long Day Care service we are unable to offer a Child Care Tax rebate (CCR).
Meals
Meals are not provided by the preschool. Parents/Carers must pack morning tea and lunch each day. Educators will assist the children with their lunch boxes and positively encourage them to be self skilled at meal times in preparation for school. NCP is a nut free environment.
Wait list
Children may be entered on the wait list from 2 years old. There can be no guarantee that all children on the waiting list will be allocated a position at the pre-school, as this depends on the age of the child, the number of children on the list, and the number of places available each year.
Placements for the following year will commence in the first week of August.
Should your child not get a place for the beginning of the year their name will be kept on the list, and you will be offered a position when available.
PHILOSOPHY
NCP believes that all children have the right to feel safe and be free from harm. We work in partnership with the children, their families and the community to provide an excellent learning environment based on diversity and respect for all.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land; the Darug and Guringai people. We pay tribute to their continuing culture and pay our respects to all Elders past and present, and to the children of today who are the Elders of the future.
NCP recognises the importance of Work, Health and Safety for all using the centre and is therefore committed to continuous monitoring evaluation and improvement of its Work, Health and Safety Policy and practice.
NCP is a valuable part of the local community having operated for more than 50 years, we have had the privilege of having a number of returning generations of families over this time. Our staff are a vital part of our organisation and we will support their long term commitment to this community with ongoing learning and reflective practice.
The uniqueness of our bushland environment is also of great importance to us and we will cherish it with sustainable practices.
The full Philosophy is available to view at preschool.
THE EARLY YEARS LEARNING FRAMEWORK AND PROGRAMMING
Norwood Educators use the government prescribed Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which encourages learning through play. EYLF describes childhood as a time of "belonging, being and becoming". The programme will be created by building on each child's interests and abilities, this is done through observation and documentation which is shared with each family through daily news boards, slide shows, portfolios, and conversations.
